Of Scallop, Coffee and Tempura

Yo! Salam Ahad di hujung Julai buat semua... :D

Hmmm... sudah agak lama rasanya aku tidak post apa-apa review makanan di sini... dan kebetulan baru-baru ni aku ke Sushi King (cawangan Kangar, Perlis) lagi untuk menikmati makanan Jepunnya, and to my pleasant surprise aku mendapati bahawa ada menu baru yang sangat-sangat mengujakan jiwaku. Lately Sushi King seems to amaze me quite well. I look forward to treating myself to more of their future 'oishii mono' (delicious items) XD

Yang pertamanya ialah...,

Iced Japanese Milk Coffee! Omaigash yeshhh aku sangat-sangat gumbira ketika ini. It's about freaking time they start serving coffee in da house. Other than this, there's also '3-layer iced coffee' available in the new menu. Yaa ochitsuke yo, jibun... ochitsuke! (Calm down, self... calm down!), save that for next time shall we? Okay, my verdict for this drink: 3.5 out of 5. Well, the price is less than RM5 so of course it won't taste like a 12-ringgit coffee drink, right? It's very light with just a hint of sweetness (in other words, tak 'kaw' pun la), maka aku fikir orang yang biasanya tak minum kopi pun mungkin boleh cuba minum kopi susu ais Jepun ni? Boleh la cuba... ;3

Review buku Nihongo Liza Sensei :)

Salam equinox gaiz! Konbanwa minna-san, kyo wa maji atsui desu ne~ (selamat petang semua, hari ni panas betul kan~) (^~^;)

Back view of Liza sensei's books. Go to bukubahasajepun for more info.

Latest news, buku TAHAP 3 baru saja dikeluarkan oleh Liza sensei, tapi aku belum beli lagi sebab aku nak bagi habis baca buku beliau yang TAHAP 2 dulu. Heheh~ ;3

Tahap 1: Bahasa formal/sopan. Mengutamakan rasa hormat. Bahasa penulisan.

Tahap 2: Bahasa pasar/kasual. Mengutamakan rasa mesra.

Honestly I enjoy reading and casually studying her Nihongo books focusing only on kaiwa (lisan). I like her approach in explaining language problems and miscommunications that might occur (or have occurred) when a Malay attempts to speak Nihongo with a regular Nihon-jin.

Preview content Tahap 1 sikit, harap Liza sensei tak marah ehheiii~ :3

Preview content Tahap 2 sikit, harap Liza sensei tak tensen. Heeep, puromoto no tameni ne, okoranaide kudasai~ (demi promosi ye, sila jangan marah~) X3

Hahahaa... maji desu yo (seriously), I'm not joking. Okay, sini aku senaraikan beberapa contoh ayat bahasa pasar yang boleh aku fikirkan sekarang:

Nihongo (informal): Suki ka kirai ka ore shiruka?!
Malay (northern dialect): Suka ka benci ka aku peduli apa?!

Nihongo (informal): Koko doko? Omae no uchi ka?
Malay (northern dialect): Sini mana? Hang punya rumah ka?

Nihongo (informal): Kore dare no kutsu? Anata no kutsu ka?
Malay (northern dialect): Ni siapa punya kasut? Kau punya kasut ka?

Nihongo (informal): Omae daijoubu? Itai ka?
Malay (northern dialect): Hang OK? Sakit ka?

Hahaa... macam "sepesyen" je kan gayanya? Maksud setiap perkataan tu pun sama word-by-word baq hang~ Apa?

Highly recommended *thumbs up* ;3

My collection of Nihongo books (in English with some romaji and hiragana characters).

Sekian. Nihongo o benkyoshimasho~ (Mari belajar bahasa Jepun~)

My COVER of Dreamer (TV size) - Yamashita Tomohisa@Yamapi

Hey gaiz, I'm currently hooked on the super-kawaii, short anime series of "Itoshii no Muco", so I've made a quick cover of the 2nd ending theme song of the anime - "Dreamer" by Yamashita Tomohisa@Yamapi. Hope you like my version of the 42-second song. I only used basic chords for this short cover (on standard guitar tuning), and a capo. Muco (the 4-year-old female dog) has been growing on me rather steadily since the first time I've watched the first episode. Short, easygoing, cute and innocent anime episodes with adorable and funny animals acting as their lead characters really do grow on me rather easily. I still remember Chii the kitten in "Chii's Sweet Home". I couldn't get enough of that kittehhh! And now I'm kinda "gya-gya" over Muco hahaa oh Plain why are you telling these people your soft spot?! Lelz~ X3

My COVER of Let Me Hear (OP in Parasyte the Maxim) - by Fear, and Loathing in Las Vegas

Hey happy weekend ya'll. This is just a simple acoustic COVER of mine, of the opening song in the anime "Parasyte - the Maxim" (or Kiseijuu - Sei no Kakuritsu ), entitled "Let Me Hear" from the J-metal rock band: Fear, and Loathing in Las Vegas. I ear-tabbed this song with my acoustic guitar using only the basic, mainstream chords of Am, G, F, Em and C. Nothing special, hahah. Lyrics obtained from Gendou[dot]com. Anyway, here's the LINK to this cover of mine on my youtube, I've included the lyrics in the vid ( ^^;)

The Japanese part translates to -  "Hey, why are you crying?", I ask you next to me. That's why we live so close together, until we shine.

Here's the original "J-metal rock" version of the song where a lot of screaming is involved, which is pretty wicked and awesome jyeah (try to ignore the crazy pronunciation and just enjoy the music, lulz)... \m/,
Can't watch this here? Watch this on youtube via THIS LINK desu~ ;3

That sinful comfort food...

This, ladies n gents, is how I usually prepare my once-in-a-while sinful comfort food - the infamous instant noodle. I usually make it RAMEN style since my love for Japanese food is rather strong (lulz).

Alright. I am fully aware of the fact that the instant noodles, regardless of whatever brand they may carry, are just not good for the health. The "waxy" instant noodles and the MSG-packed flavoring items are just silent killers singing the song "Killing me softly" while cheekily modifying the lyrics to "Killing you softly with this stuff, killing you softly~~~", and you don't even mind listening to it, because you do realize that at that moment you are having a bowl of your 'once-in-a-while' sinful comfort food.

Okay, that was just my guilt taking control of my keyboard. Okay, dah tau makanan ni tak baik untuk kesihatan, habis tu kenapa aku post entri ni dengan gambar maggi kari mee segera aku, versi Ramen lagi? Am I just being an arse trying to encourage/temp people to eat unhealthy foods? .....Am I? (~ "^ w ^)~

So, here's the thing...,

1. Mee segera ni tidak menyihatkan - YES.
2. Tapi mee segera ni sedap - YES.
3. Pulak tu, mee segera ni sangat convenient (cheap, having relatively long shelf life, easy to store and distribute, quick to prepare) - YES, so true.

I like making this version of Ramen style instant noodles too, decorated with a soft poached egg, some katsuobushi (dried tuna shavings), spring onions, roasted sesame seeds, and dried seaweed. This is Nissin instant noodles, chicken garlic flavor. Oishii desu yo~ ;3

If you just have to eat something that is unfortunately deemed unhealthy, do try to get rid of the unhealthiness factor as much as you can, and add more goodness to it to make it better. Yeah, I think I'll make that my motto... hahah ;3

Kono Ookami-tachi... LoL

A quick, rough and raw pen sketch (plus minus 30 minutes) of the cunning Naruto cosplay picture below. The cosplay is simply cheeky and LoL I just had to make a rough sketch of it, manga style. Tools: Swan Stabilo color gel 208 - 0.7mm tip, a typical A5-sized notebook, and a funny cosplay photo as reference.

...MAKANAN! Food! O-tabemono! (food!) Omaigad I am such a glutton! LoLoLoL~ X3

One of my "runny omurice" attempts done sometime in 2014, most recent one, almost got it right, almost... this was slightly runny, slightly...

Whaaat?! Again with the omurice?? Why is this plain83 person so obsessed with the friggin Japanese runny omelet rice, to the extent of making it her first entry for the year 2015, hence starting off the year with a food entry? And it's about omurice, again?! What the, of all the things...?? Plain-san, daijoubu desu ka? (Plain, are you O.K?) LoL~ ;3

Ehem, chill please... aku tak ada idea sangat nak tulis pasal apa sebenarnya sebagai entri permulaan yang "proper" bagi sesuatu tahun itu, and to over-think about what to write in my blog in order to make it somewhat "meaningful" enough to start off the year is so..... unnecessarily mendokusai (troublesome). LoL, chill people, a blog is just a blog ;3

So, why omurice? Well, it's just so damn challenging to successfully make this particular version of omurice, and yes, I am some kind of a food enthusiast, or some people call "foodie". After a few trials of making this 'crazy-hard-to-accomplish' runny omurice, I am now able to pin-point some critical control points (CCP) within the process of making this special runny omurice, and they are;

#1. Api. Yes, the fire on the stove. Api perlu besar dan sekata, dan api pada bahagian tengah itu perlulah seboleh-bolehnya sama kuat dengan api di bahagian bulatan pada parameter luarannya.

#2. Kuali. The nature of the frying pan. Kuali itu perlulah berbentuk leper, bulat, melengkung di bahagian tepi, jenis non-stick pan, dan bersaiz sederhana (~18cm in diameter for an egg mixture containing 2 large eggs, 1 tsp shoyu, 2 tbsp water).

#3. Teknik. Teknik yang betul serta ketangkasan semasa proses mengimbangkan omelet di atas api besar yang sekata, sememangnya merupakan cabaran yang paling ultimate dalam usaha mendapatkan hasil yang baik. To get a clearer picture of what the heck I'm talking about here, sila lihat video berikut yang mana aku rembat dari youtube. Tengok chef pakar omurice tu bikin runny omurice at Kyoto's KichiKichi Restaurant macam mana, gila terer, killer skills! X3

Dou? Sugoi desho? (Amacam? Hebat bukan?). Mesti best giler kalau dapat bikin runny omurice tahap tu. Oh what a very superb and glorious feeling that must be! Omnomnomnom! X3

~Happy New Year 2015~
